Our “California Creams” come from some of the largest sheep flocks in the state. Also known as commercial flocks, these sheep have some of the finest wool out there. Breeds of these sheep derive from the Merino and common crosses in CA are the Corriedale and Rambouillet sheep. Not only do they produce beautiful wool they are heavily adapted to dry climates and can also handle colder climates and weather with the protections of their incredible fleeces.

Please allow 5-7 days for your order to ship. Each Shepherdess Holistic Hide is unique, with natural variations in color, cut, and fluff. Please be aware of this before purchasing. These are NOT pure white hides. If you have any specific preferences, make a note when you order and we will try to accommodate you, but can’t make any promises!

Our hides are raised, grazed and tanned in the west using a vegetable tanning method without any harsh chemicals. We celebrate the unique nature of these hides by not over-processing, so you may find wild remnants from the field now and then - a blade of grass, a seed pod, or a burr. We like to think of these organic materials as hitchhikers that help us to envision the particular places that nourished each particular hide.
